Governor Abdulrazaq has given his approval, for a financial assistance program that will provide N10,000 to students.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has issued a directive to provide a payment of N10,000, to each student studying in public owned institutions within the state.

Additionally he has given approval for a stipend of N10,000 to be given to categories of security agents who are considered the line of defense. This financial support will be distributed through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) Office.

This decision marks a departure from the bursary award system, which only benefited final year students in schools. The support for students is described as a one time assistance. Aims to expand its reach beyond final year students.

The Governor had previously increased the award from the N5,000 to N10,000 specifically for final year students.

To ensure coordination and implementation of this support initiative a government committee will oversee its operations. The committee will be chaired by Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, who serves as Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB). It will also include representatives from departments such as the Ministry of Tertiary Institution bursary department, Ministry of Finance. Additionally there will be representation from both the National Association of Kwara State Students (NAKSS) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), in Kwara State.

"The committee intends to provide a web link where students who qualify for the State bursary can apply for assistance. The application process will be announced at a date. Students will be required to submit necessary information and documents."
