The auction house had estimated that the ring would fetch, around $300,000.
A ring adorned with diamonds and rubies designed by the rap artist Tupac Shakur was sold at a Sothebys auction in New York for over $1 million on Tuesday surpassing the expectation of $300,000.
Tupac created this ring back in 1996 before his unfortunate demise and under circumstances that still puzzle the music industry. The purpose was to commemorate his deal with Death Row Records and his release on bail from a facility in New York.
On one side of the band you can find the inscription "Pac & Dada 1996 " symbolizing his engagement to Kidada Jones. She happens to be Quincy Jones and Peggy Liptons daughter and Rashida Jones sister; all figures in their own right within the entertainment industry.
Tupac proudly wore this ring during his public appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards only a few days before he tragically passed away. The person responsible for putting it up for auction is none than Yaasmyn Fula – Tupacs godmother and trusted advisor.
This remarkable piece of jewelry holds significance as it stands as one of hip hops most valuable artifacts ever sold at an auction. It takes place behind another item; Wu Tang Clans exclusive album "Once Upon A Time in Shaolin " which reportedly sold for a staggering $2 million, in 2015 to Martin Shkreli, infamously known as "pharma bro."
